First impressions of Rye Lane

This meet-cute rom-com from newcomer Raine Allen Miller just might be the meet-cutest.

Crawling through April, fatigued and poor in spirit, I am trying to imagine how I’ll make it through my Spring Quarter of teaching, since I work on a ship that is breaking apart all around me. If you’d told me, early in my dream-quest to teach at my alma mater, that I would achieve my goals just in time to watch misguided leadership turn the school toxic, so that faculty would line up for lifeboats and students would start leaving in droves… I might have seriously considered another path. But here we are.

So forgive me if I’m not rushing out to see movies about hard times. I’m reaching for laughter, for light.

And that’s why I got excited about the buzz around Rye Lane.
